PS Action

What is a Photoshop action?
In PS Help: "An action is a series of commands that you play back on a single file or a batch of files."

How to install an action?
Save the *.atn file in: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Photoshop Actions.

How to load an action?
First, open Photoshop, go to Windows, then Action. Click on the small round button with a black arrowhead on the upper right corner of the Actions palette. Choose Load Actions from the Actions palette menu. Locate and select the action set file, and then click Load.

How to use an action?
Make sure you have a flat [not layered] image open and then, press play or the action button [when in button mode]

ACR Preset

How to load ACR preset?
Close Adobe Photoshop. Put .xmp file in this folder: C:\Document and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Camera Raw\ Settings. Open Photoshop and open a RAW document. Click the round button with the arrowhead on the right side of the ACR window and load setting. The setting is ready for use.

What versions of Photoshop are compatible?
Actions work in PS 7, CS, CS2 an CS3. Although "Merge Layer" Command is still unavailable in PS 7 actions will still work as they should in this version of Photoshop.
